Apocalypse is a third-person action shooter developed by Neversoft and published by Activision on November 17, 1998. Set in a dystopian future, players take control of Trey Kincaid, a lone hero voiced and modeled after Bruce Willis, as he battles to stop a mad scientist known as “The Reverend” from bringing about the end of the world. Featuring fast-paced gunplay, dual-wielding mechanics, and intense boss battles, the game combines run-and-gun action with cinematic presentation and a rock-driven soundtrack. Apocalypse is also notable for its early use of motion-captured acting and for showcasing the technology that later powered Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater.
